Subject: FW: Urgent notice - railway line re-opened

Dear business partners,

We would like to inform you that the railway line between the Port of Koper and the hinterland has been reopened today, on June 29, at 12 o'clock, after it had been closed on Tuesday, June 25 due to the derailment of a train composition. One railcar, carrying kerosene, was damaged in the accident, and the liquid leaked into the ground. Because the place of the accident is close to a water source, which provides drinking water to the entire Slovenian coast, rescue units and competent services had to pump all liquid first to prevent ecological disaster. Then, they had to remove the derailed wagons that remained jammed in the tunnel. Afterwards it was necessary to remove all the earth that was soaked with kerosene. At the end, they had to repair the damaged tracks and other infrastructure. Due to the complexity and sensitivity of solving the consequences of the accident, there was a delay in the opening of the line, which was initially planned for yesterday.

We are sorry if the accident caused you inconvenience, but we are convinced that you too are sharing our satisfaction that it did not cause much damage or even human casualties. Due to the delay in cargo dispatches, we will engage all available resources in the coming days in order to eliminate backlogs as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

We wish you a pleasant and peaceful summer days.

Luka Koper, d. d. – Port of Koper
